Alex Neil, SNP MSP for Central Scotland, has expressed his disappointment at the closure today (Friday) of the Camelot Regional Centre in Bellshill, with the loss of four jobs.
Camelot is closing its Regional Centres in Cardiff and Belfast as well as it shifts their work to offices in Liverpool.
Commenting on the news, Alex Neil MSP said:
“I am sorely disappointed at the loss of more jobs in Lanarkshire and the closure of an important office for the operator of the National Lottery. I will of course offer all my support to those who have lost their job in Bellshill.
“What is of great disappointment to me is that Camelot has chosen to focus its investment into only one of the four countries in the UK and it seriously calls into question their loyalty to Scotland. This is of great concern to me, particularly when so much of Scotland’s Lottery money is being used to subsidise the London Olympics.
“I would strongly suggest that Camelot rethink its strategy because this could well impact on their Scottish sales.
