Question & Answer Sessions

Alex has been involved in some question and answer sessions with Lanarkshire schools.
Alex answered a series of questions from Scottish Independence, the economy to what it is like to be a MSP for Primary 5 at Tannochside Primary School
Pupils from St Margaret's High in Airdrie visited the Scottish Parliament and had to opportunity to speak to Alex at a special question and answer session. |

Dogs Bill
|
Alex introduced the Control of Dogs (Scotland) Bill to Parliament before he became Housing & Communities Minister in 2009. Alex's colleague Christine Grahame MSP took over responsibilty for the Bill and it has now been approved by the Scottish Parliament and received Royal Assent.

Christmas Tree Donation
|
Alex decided to donate his Christmas Tree from the Forestry Commission to the Orbiston Neighbourhood Centre in Bellshill. He donated it to the Centre on the recommendation of local Councillor Dick Lyle because they do excellent work with people of all ages in the community (elderly day care and nursery and after school care) and is run very well locally.

Alex delivers christmas tree to nursing home
|
Alex was given a Christmas tree by the Forestry Commission to donate to a local good cause of his choice. He asked local hero Rae Mitchell (who is pictured below, at the official opening of the Scottish Parliament) to nominate an organisation, and she was delighted to select Hatton Lea Nursing Home in Bellshill. The tree duly arrived this week - pictured are Alex, Stephen Hagan (Hatton Lea manager), Rae Mitchell and Cllr Richard Lyle. |

Parliament official opening
|
Alex Neil pictured with Rae Mitchell from Bellshill, his Local Hero. Each MSP was allowed to invite a local hero with them to the official opening of the parliament, in recognition of their work. Rae works in Woolworths in Bellshill, and spends her days off collecting money for local kids. Over the years she has raised thousands of pounds, enabling her to buy all kinds of equipment for children.
